How To Repurpose One Post Into Five Pieces Of Content

Updated: Oct 5, 2021

Let’s face it, you don’t have time to write a million different pieces of content in a week. Between blog posts, emails, Facebook posts, Instagram Stories, Pinterest pins…. It’s just a bit much. Am I right?

I’ll let you in on a little secret – you don’t have to create different content for each of those things. You just need to create one and then repurpose that baby!

Let me break it down for you…

Step 1: Create a Blog Post

Step 2: Copy a small portion of the post and put it into an email to your subscribers, and include a link to blog to read the full thing.

Step 3: Create an image that has the blog title in it to post on social media and let your followers know you just published a new blog post. Pro tip: you can use the same image on Facebook AND Instagram!

Step 4: Create a video teasing the content in the blog post and direct people to your website (side note: this will be social media content for a different day).

Step 5: Create your pins for Pinterest using the blog title or brief summary in the pin, switching up the image and text in each pin.

And just like that… you’re done!

I don’t mean to simplify it, but…

Okay, I do mean to simplify it. Because it can be that simple!

I know creating a blog isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but honestly, once you get that out of the way, the rest of the pieces basically create themselves.

If you struggle on the creative side, like I do, there are programs to help with that! I use Canva, which I’m absolutely in LOVE with. When I’m staring at a blank canvas having absolutely NO clue what picture or text style to use, Canva has tons of templates that give me a place to start and the inspiration I need to create a killer graphic! I highly recommend checking it out.

To give you an idea of how this all works, here’s an example of a free guide I recently created and how I repurposed it into different content.

Content #1: I created a free guide about the best times to post on social media

Content #2: I sent an email to my subscribers about it.

Content #3: I created a blog post about it.

Content #4: I created a social media post to advertise it on Facebook & Instagram.

Content #5: A video talking about the new guide I just published.

Now, if you wanted to take this a step even FURTHER, you can have a sixth piece of content by creating some pins you can put on Pinterest about the post you just created!

There you have it - SIX pieces of content from just ONE post.

P.S. If you’re one of my email subscribers, or take a look at my social media channels, you’ll see how I repurposed this blog post :)
